Cross-border Research Funding: Eurice Joins Chinese-German Health Symposium
Following the invitation of the Sino-German Center of Science, Eurice expert Dr Birte Kretschmer took part in the Chinese-German Joint Symposium ‘The global challenge of chronic non-communicable respiratory disease – joining forces from East to West’. From January 5-8, Chinese and German specialists gathered in Xiamen, China to exchange results and collaboration opportunities between different universities and research institutes of both countries.
Dr Birte Kretschmer actively contributed to the symposium as a speaker. In her presentation, she outlined joint cross-border funding opportunities for academia and industry with a special focus on Horizon 2020, the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research and the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion. The healthcare sector has been one of the main targets for Chinese participations already in FP7 – and this tendency is increasing. In order to familiarise her audience with the specific requirements for the current European framework programme, she named the most important rules and conditions in Horizon 2020 before discussing open points in the subsequent Q&A session.
