Successful Introduction of IP Navigator® Tool at TANDEM Meeting in Peru

From May 16-18, the final progress meeting of the TANDEM consortium took place at the ‘Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia’ (UPCH) in Lima, Peru. The meeting concluded a series of field site visits that have taken place annually throughout the four and a half years of the TANDEM project duration.

In the course of the progress meeting, it became clear that a substantial amount of work has successfully been completed during the TANDEM project, with valuable sets of collected and analysed data. Extensive scientific discussions and work group meetings outlined the steps necessary to finalise the project and find possibilities to maintain collaborations after its conclusion.

For the Eurice team, the presentation in Lima was a great opportunity for the test run of its new IP Navigator® tool. Presenting the first analyses to the scientists brought a general positive and encouraging feedback. The tool was applied for analysing

a.) citations of TANDEM publications in order to evaluate their reach, scientific context and impact in the field

b.) more than 5,500 documents related to TANDEM publications based on the occurrence of TANDEM-related words (e.g. Diabetes / Tuberculosis) in the documents’ titles or abstracts within the last ten years (2007-2017).

Besides pointing out links and collaboration opportunities with further research groups working on related topics, the analyses provided an interesting overview on research developments in the field in the last ten years.

After the successful test run, the consortium members felt encouraged to update their publication lists to allow for further application of the IP Navigator® tool for the final report.

Eurice is management and dissemination partner in FP7 project TANDEM. Launched in 2013, the multinational TANDEM consortium has been examining the causal relationship between Tuberculosis and Diabetes in order to design more effective strategies for control of both diseases.
