Building Inclusive Policies for a Fair Future
Green and digital transitions are fundamentally reshaping Europe’s economy and society, aiming for sustainability, innovation, and growth, aligned with the aims of the EU Green Deal and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. However, while these transitions offer tremendous opportunities, they can also unintentionally deepen existing social and regional inequalities. Vulnerable groups, especially in sectors like mobility and agri-food, often face disproportionate challenges, such as limited access to new technologies, knowledge or resources. As current policies frequently overlook these side effects – risking exclusion and unfair distribution of benefits – policymakers need clear, evidence-based insights and recommendations to navigate the trade-offs between efficiency and fairness. This is where READJUST comes in. By providing comprehensive data, practical tools, and co-created policy solutions, the project supports decision-makers at all levels to design and implement more inclusive policies. Ultimately, the project helps ensure that the green and digital transitions foster a just, equitable future where no one is left behind.

Driving Just Transitions with Innovative Tools
READJUST tackles inequalities emerging from the twin green and digital transitions, with a focus on the mobility and agri-food sectors. At its core is the READJUST Observatory, a repository of innovative tools to identify and address these inequalities – including a Policy Tracker to monitor and analyse policies, an Inequality Index to pinpoint disadvantaged groups and regions, a Self-Assessment tool to evaluate progress on equality, and a Policy Action Roadmap offering best practices and recommendations. In close collaboration with stakeholders from industry, policymaking, and civil society, the project co-develops and tests these policy measures to ensure they are effective and fair. By translating complex data into actionable insights, READJUST empowers policymakers across Europe to design inclusive, evidence-based policies. This comprehensive approach promotes sustainable and equitable growth, ensuring that the benefits of Europe’s green and digital transitions are shared by all, including its most vulnerable communities.
