Official Go-ahead for the Implementation of Two Forward-looking Hydrogen Projects in Saarland
Federal Minister Robert Habeck, together with several state economics ministers, recently approved the funding of 23 outstanding and forward-looking hydrogen projects, two of which are being implemented in Saarland: the infrastructure project "mosaHYc" coordinated by CREOS Deutschland Wasserstoff GmbH and the hydrogen production project "HydroHub_Fenne" run by HydroHub Fenne GmbH. The EURICE team accompanied and consulted both ventures during the proposal phase and is thus pleased to see the official green light from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
The 23 projects are part of the third so-called Hy2Infra wave of IPCEI hydrogen (Important Projects of Common European Interest), which the EU Commission approved on 15 February 2024. Covering the entire hydrogen value chain, the projects will accelerate the production of renewable hydrogen and the development of transport and storage infrastructure. With a 30% co-financing by the participating federal states, the federal and state governments are providing joint funding of EUR 4.6 billion.
